Sailing
Lyme Regis Sailing Club is well known for its dinghy racing with occasional races organised for the cruisers e.g. the wine Run.
Dinghy racing starts in mid March and runs through to mid December. Generally, there are two races on Sundays (morning and afternoon) and racing on Wednesday evenings from May through to August; full details are in the club Programme. Dinghy sailors racing at Lyme enjoy clean winds for offshore sailing together with good size and challenging courses. This really is the ideal sailing location to learn technique.
The Club has a mixed fleet of dinghies which race on a handicap basis. Popular classes in the Club are Albacore, Phantom, and Laser, together with Assymetric designs such as the RS700 and RS200.
Safety
The club takes its responsibility for safety very seriously and there is always at least one rescue boat with the racing fleet. This a fast RIB used solely for this purpose that is driven by trained safety boat crews.
Helms and crews taking part in organised races are advised to wear a suitable buoyancy aid. For general sailing we advise you to check the weather forecast before sailing. During the summer months this is displayed daily outside the harbour masters office near the LRSC car park. You can also access various weather sites from here.
Race Courses
Before each race there is a briefing at the club house. There are deployable racing marks laid to suit the wind on the day
