Racing at Lyme Regis
Lyme Regis Sailing Club is well known for its dinghy racing with occasional races organised for the cruisers e.g. the wine Run.
Dinghy racing starts in mid March and runs throughout the year. Generally, there are 3 races on Sundays (2 morning and 1 afternoon) and racing on Wednesday evenings from May through to September; full details are in the club Programme.
The Club has a mixed fleet of dinghies which race on a handicap basis. Popular classes in the Club are Albacore, Phantom, and Laser.
The club Safety Policy is included in Documents Guides.
The club takes its responsibility for safety very seriously and there is always at least one patrol boat with the racing fleet. A RIB is used solely for this purpose and is driven by trained crews.
Helms and crews taking part in organised races are advised to wear a suitable buoyancy aid,(for sailors under the age of 18 this is compulsory).
For general sailing we advise you to check the weather forecast before sailing. During the summer months this is displayed daily outside the harbour masters office. You can also access various weather sites from here.
The course for the day is displayed on the club notice board at the club house entrance. We have inflatable racing marks laid to suit the wind on the day
